How does CBD work?

CBD works by imitating compounds our bodies naturally produce on a daily basis, called endocannabinoids, which activate to maintain internal stability, health and wellness. The endocannabinoid system or ECS, is a complex cell-signalling system identified in the early 1990s by researchers exploring CBD/THC, the two most well-known cannabinoids found in Cannabis.

Experts are still trying to fully understand the ECS, however so far, we know it plays a significant role in regulating a range of functions and processes within our bodies. The endocannabinoid exists and is active in your body even if you don’t use or have never used cannabis

The ECS involves three core components:

  1. Endocannabinoids
  2. Endocannabinoid receptors
  3. Enzymes

All 3 core components of the ECS are believed to work simultaneously to regulate:

  • Appetite and digestion
  • Metabolism
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Mood
  • Learning and memory
  • Motor control
  • Sleep
  • Cardiovascular system function
  • Muscle formation
  • Bone growth
  • Liver function
  • Reproductive system function
  • Stress
  • Skin and nerve function

Some of the symptoms that may suggest an underlying endocannabinoid deficiency within your body include:

  • Chronic insomnia
  • Recurring anxiety
  • Mood imbalances
  • Inflammation issues, including arthritis
  • Recurring skin conditions such as eczema
  • Chronic pain
  • Constant Headaches or Migraines
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscle pain or spasms
  • Bone density deteriation or loss
